the problem with the maid.
some of you would know that, about 2 weeks before i flew off to aus, my maid was diagnosed with cervical cancer. she fainted in the toilet one day when no one was home and she lost alot of blood cuz she had an exceptionally heavy period. she never stopped bleeding though, so she was sent to the hospital and all that jazz. so anyways, thank goodness at that time it was in one of the early stages of the cancer, so it would have been safe for her to remove her womb and hope for a full recovery. what we decided to do was send her back to phillipines for 6 weeks, hopefully enough for her to get the operation done and get enough rest and spend sometime with her family before coming back.
so my mom was telling me that things weren't going well at all for her over there. the doctors there apparently do not agree with the singapore doctors regarding her treatment and insist that she go to manila to do therapy to reduce the size of the tumor before carrying on with the operation. which is really troublesome cuz its an 8-10 hour journey away AND its really costly. so like 10 days have been wasted and she's losing a whole lot of blood. her blood pressure is very low and she's been so worried about not having enough money that shes stopped eating in order to save money. my mom was like WTHHH....and immediately ordered her to eat so she will have energy to at least be operated on.
it's so weird in the phillipines, they have to go to the pharmacy to buy all their medicines and medical supplies before the operation can proceed...apparently the hospitals do not have the resources. how ridiculous. we are seriously worried for her life. there's like a whole lot of drama going on and its so hard for us to keep track. plus the doctors there dont seem to have any sense of urgency. which really makes me feel lucky that its not the case in sg. although we do have a few disgustingly unethical doctors around, majority are fantastic and properly educated. and we are at least, more willing to leave our lives in their hands.
thats all that i know has been happening and i hope that she made it to manila and they are intending to do something for her now. tsk. all we can do it hope for the best.
p.s. this is really random. but i really want fluffy purple bedroom socks. haha.
p.p.s. i couldn't leave this out. i told mom i was sitting in the front row for my letures (cuz im trying to be good.) and she said "
DID THEY PREARRAGE SITTING ACCORDING TO HEIGHT?" omg. classic.
